LGBTQ+ Workplace Culture Summit (organized by One Iowa)

Event Description: Join us for the first session of the LGBTQ+ Workplace Culture Summit as we dive into how businesses can respond to the recent removal of gender identity protections from the Iowa Civil Rights Act. This change has left queer and transgender Iowans fearing discrimination in every part of their lives—especially at work. But we all have a role to make sure every space—where we shop, eat, work, and live—is welcoming and inclusive.

Date: Thursday, April 3, 2025

Time: 12:00 - 1:30 PM

Location: Virtual Event - REGISTER HERE!

NOTES - New this year: The Summit has expanded into a year-long series of events timed with key LGBTQ+ anniversaries and celebrations. This allows for LGBTQ+ issues to stay at the forefront of workplace conversations all year round, not just during Pride Month.

Our first session coincides with the 16th anniversary of Varnum v. Brien, the Iowa Supreme Court decision that made Iowa the third state to legalize same-sex marriage. We'll reflect on how workplace advocacy played a big part in that victory—and how we need that same kind of solidarity today.

If you live and work in Iowa, this session is for you. Whether you run a small business or work for a larger organization, recent legislation that legalizes discrimination impacts us all. This session will break down how these laws affect your business, employees, and customers, and offer ways to protect your rights and support a more inclusive Iowa for all.
